LIME GREEN SHIRTS…

When I was a kid, I often stuck out like a sore thumb. My creative side showed up in many ways especially in my clothing choices - lime green shirts and a bright orange scarf. Unlike the other kids who were watching colourful cartoons and singing Disney theme songs, I was drawn to the 50's era listening to Bing Crosby and watching black and white movies.

While I was always into crafting and craft shows, it wasn't until 2004 that I discovered the artistry of melting glass and creating incredible forms from it. I took a trip to Fairmont and while the people I was with wanted to golf, it was the last thing on earth this creative girl wanted to do! So I happened upon a lampworking bead making class. I signed up and fell in love instantly. While my travel mates signed up to golf again the next day, I signed up for more time at the torch and from there, JoJo Beads was born.

Like any artist, you can find me hunkered down in my studio, Dean Martin blasting on the speakers and me in my element creating beautiful beads and sculptures. Always inspired by the amazing colours, like my lime green shirt and orange scarf, I am thrilled to see what colour combinations I can create. I get lost in the intricacies of the glass as I create each piece so different from any other. I then turn these creations into one of a kind wearable art - earrings, necklaces, broaches and more...
